Today’s nails were an experiment, I really love simple tie dye. I have this dress which is just a blue and white tie dye pattern and I really wanted to try and replicate this. It didn’t end up looking exactly right, but I love how it turned out, all swirly!
I started by painting a swirl on to a sponge using Barry M Blue Grape, and a white polish. I then tried to blend these two colours together using a toothpick to try and create those distinctive stripes that you see from tie dye. I then sponged this swirl straight on to my nails, I had to reapply it a couple of times to make the colour stand out.
You can really see the swirly pattern most on my thumb, I got so many compliments on this mani I guess because it just looks so different. I think the light powder blue that is created from the blended colours looks really beautiful, I’m not sure if I own this shade but it makes me want to go find one!
As the tie dye effect didn’t work out how I wanted I thought I would add polka dots on the pattern to help emphasise the swirl. I used China Glaze Water you Waiting for, a sparkly blue and purple glitter that I just love! It goes so well with this mani and I am really happy with how this turned out, a happy accident! I actually want to try this out again in different colours, what do you think?
