I briefly saw a video on instagram where someone painted what looked like a flower on to a sponge, just using different colours to dab each section, and then sponge on the colours. I love doing gradient nails because I like how fast sponging on colour is, so when I saw this I couldn’t believe I’d never tried it. I decided to go for Neon colours because I miss wearing bright summer nails!
I own two colours from Models Own ‘For Tans’ range so I had to include them, but picking the rest of the colours took me a while. I had Models Own Beach Bag and Shades which are the pink and orange colours. I then decided on Chin Glaze Metro Pollen-Tin, a warm yellow. I then remembered OPI’s Life Gave me Lemons, a lovely yellow green colour.
I was happy with my choice of colours, but I felt it needed a purple tone. Not owning any neon purples I had the idea to use Deborah Lippmann’s Call Me Irresponsible, although it’s a dark purple it’s a polish that would take a couple coats to be opaque. On top of the white base colour the purple looked bright!
I really love how this turned out, I can imagine myself doing this again as a base for stamping!
